Oprah wants Palin AFTER the election

At Drudge Report this morning:

BIG DILEMMA: OPRAH BALKS AT HOSTING SARAH PALIN; STAFF DIVIDED
That’s followed by:
Oprah Winfrey may have introduced Democrat Barack Obama to the women of America -- but the talkshow queen is not rushing to embrace the first woman on a Republican presidential ticket!

Oprah's staff is sharply divided on the merits of booking Sarah Palin, sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on," an insider explains. "Oprah's website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama." …

Last year, Winfrey blocked an appearance by Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, timed to a promotional tour of his autobiography.

Oprah and executive producer Sheri Salata, who has contributed thousands of dollars to Obama's campaign, refused requests for comment.
A short while later Drudge posted the following:
OPRAH'S STATEMENT:

"The item in today's Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates [Except Sen. Obama. – JinC]. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over." (emphasis added)
Oprah is obviously trying to be as even-handed as the NY and LA Times, NPR, the networks, Joe Klein, Chris Matthews, Andrew Sullivan, Kos and Team Obama itself.

And she’s succeeding.

So, she has made a "public stance" of support for Obama but would not use her show as a "platform" for a candidate.

Anyone with a room temperature IQ and moderate interest in this election knows that O is a big time supporter of O.

I hope O the celebrity (I mean, the celebrity with a TV show) maintains this position. Her refusal to have a woman on the show who is of interest to women, when juxtaposed against he support for Obama will be of more use than the exposure Palin would get. Palin will get all the exposure she wants (and then some). Oprah's behavior will just highlight Leftist duplicity. Oprah can simply be lumped with the MSM.

Perhaps Sarah and her staff are thinking, "Well, AFTER I am elected Vice President this year and AFTER I am elected President in 2012, I don't believe there will be the time to sit and chat with Oprah." Hope so ------

She is getting burned by her own in comments on her website.

Palin won't have time to fool with Oprah after Election Day.

There is a lot of work involved in moving a family of 7 from Alaska to Washington.

Someone, somewhere, suggested that Oprah doesn't care about her show (obviously doesn't care that her viewers are interested in seeing Sarah Palin) because she's rich, she's done the whole TV thing, now she might be interested in something new. They suggested she might want a position in an Obama administration. Now there's a scary thought.

Wait a minute. Oprah is being honest - the others are not as they try to maintain they are neutral on the front page, only champions on the editorial page. Oprah is being completely principled and has NO obligation to provide equal time. Palin should announce her respect and agreement with that. Oprah is a very successful, self-made person and is entitled to use her status to support one candidate to the exclusion of others. That is what she has said very well, concisely and clearly. Should be end of subject.
