Obama injects race. Again!

For a candidate who keeps saying he doesn’t want people bringing race into the campaign, Sen. Barack Obama sure does a lot of it himself.

The AP reports his latest:

Democrat Barack Obama, the first black candidate with a shot at winning the White House, says John McCain and his Republican allies will try to scare them by saying Obama "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."

Stumping in an economically challenged battleground state, Obama argued Wednesday that President Bush and McCain will resort to scare tactics to maintain their hold on the White House because they have little else to offer voters.

"Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me," Obama said. "You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills."…
Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit comments:
Er, all those other presidents? Isn't there just one President on the dollar bill?

And have you noticed that it's always Obama who's actually injecting race into the campaign, under the guise of warning about what those Evil Republicans will do? And is it really likely that John McCain would be out there saying "don't vote for Obama, he's black?
Yes, I have noticed.

Senator Obama's continually bring up references to those "injecting race into the campaign" reminds me of the 1960 campaign when then Vice-President Richard Nixon “promised” at a campaign appearance in the Deep South he wasn’t going to make an issue of then Senator John Kennedy’s Catholicism.

Kennedy saw right through what Nixon was doing: “I bet he'll says that at every campaign stop in the South.”

Why’s Obama using a Nixon tactic? I thought he was supposed to be like Kennedy.

The entire AP story's here.

The more I hear about this guy, the more I think he is an idiot. What a loser!

Based on what is happening I don't believe we should count HRC out just yet.

What Obama is doing is taking a page from the Clinton playbook - blame the Republicans for any and everything that might possibly happen.

John -

I have said it before, and I'll say it again. St. Barack is trying to become America's first affirmative action President. You have got to vote for him because he's black (or so he purports to be).

Obama's position is that if the McCain campaign (or anyone else for that matter) raises a question about Obama's experience or judgement, it is RACIST.

Clever ploy. ANY questioning of Obama's credentials is a RACIST attack, not a simple question of whether he is qualified to be President.

It's an old strategy that works like a charm. ANY question or criticism of Jesse Jackson is automatically RACIST. Likewise, ANY question or criticism of Israel is automatically ANTISEMITIC.
When G. Washington left the presidency he warned against permanent, binding alliances with foreign nations. We forget that warning at our peril. And, No, I'm not antisemitic; but I am an American.

Hmmm. So when McCain said that he was "the American President the American People were waiting for" he was not injecting race into the election?

Let's see, between the two of them, Obama is the only one actually born in America. Obama's mother is from Kansas, so do you suppose McCain might have been referring to Obama's Kenyan - black - father?

You're an historian, you tell me. Please include a reference to what Jesse Helms meant with his "Hands" commercial in the race against Gannt and how that was not injecting race either.

Jericho: A child born to American parents serving their country in a foreign country is every bit as much an American as someone born of a white Kansan Mother and a Black African. And why bring Helms and Gantt into it?
