Politico: Obama just “poked fun"

From Politico - - -

Amie Parnes reports from Lebanon, VA:

Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.

"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."

"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."

"We've had enough of the same old thing."

The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick." ...

Politico’s entire post’s here.

Did Sen. Obama, a long-time friend of the anti-America racist Jeremiah Wright and terrorist Bill Ayers, just “poke[] fun” at “McCain and Palin's new ‘change’ mantra?”

Is Politico sure Obama wasn’t really “lashing out?"

Please don’t call me a racist.

I’m just asking.

The "lipstick on a pig" simile is an old established phrase with no connection to Sarah Palin. You can accuse St. Barack of many things, but stupid he ain't. Poor choice of metaphor? Sure. Intentional slur against Sarah? I don't think so. In any event, St. Barack is taking heat for the remark.
What is really noteworthy is the number of times the top of the Democrat ticket has taken shots at the bottom of the GOP ticket. I believe St. Barack is shooting himself in the foot rather than hitting his intended target. The presidential nominee simply doesn't waste his ammunition on the veep candidate of the other party unless he feels seriously threatened. And, by the way, where has Joe "Kinnock" Biden been the last few days?

This is another relentless non-issue. McCain, Obama and the MSM should be called to task for wasting time on nonsense. Are there any other political issues facing the USA this year besides this junior high school pap? Can we just move on to the talent, personality, and swim suit portion of this election cycle and get it over with? Maybe Ron Paul is correct - there is no difference between McCain and Obama, either one of them in the WH will lead us in four more years of the same old same old.

If I were you, John in Carolina, I would be putting this blog to better use by promoting debate and featuring political ideas from more than the two major party presidential candidates, not just stirring the crock - and what a crock!

I agree that the "lipstick" comment is much ado about nothing. But, if Palin has gotten inside the head of The One, so be it.

John:

Sometimes the mind plays tricks on people.

The lipstick remarks by Sarah Palin were obviously on Obama's mind. (She seems to have gotten under his skin.) The unintended effect was an ill timed joke. There'll be more as time goes on.

I'll put my money on the old warrior at this point.

John -

This is one of those rare time I disagree with TH. I think the slur was intentional, because there were two of them. There were in back-to-back statements by St. Barack. One was about the pig and the other about a stinking fish (shades of Dukakis' appellation for George H.W. Bush in the 1988 presidential campaign). The two statements are: You know, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called 'change,' it's still gonna stink after eight years."

It is clear to me that the first statement was aimed at Gov. Palin, and the second at Sen. McCain. Is this a waste of time in a Presidential campaign that has fewer than 60 days left? It certainly is, but those statements tell us something about St. Barack. He is getting rattled, and if Gov. Sarah Palin can rattle him to such a degree, imagine what Prime Minister Vladamir Putin can do to him should he become President.
