Carter blames Bush. Anyone surprised?

It used to be our former Presidents, regardless of party, rallied behind the current President in a crisis. Their support for the current President would be reported as an instance "of the country coming together in this time of crisis."

But former President Jimmy Carter isn't like other former Presidents. He denigrates America at every opportunity. He regularly pays tribute to the terrorist monster Arafat as he did recently when he laid a wreath at his tomb.

Today Reuters reports:
"Ex-president Carter slams Bush on market crisis"

Former President Jimmy Carter said on Friday the "atrocious economic policies" of the Bush administration had caused the worst global financial crisis since the Great Depression of the 1930s.

Carter told reporters on a stopover in Brussels that "profligate spending," massive borrowing and dramatic tax cuts since President George W. Bush took office in 2001 were behind the market turmoil and economic crisis. ...
The rest of Reuters' story's here.

I've always thought Carter was a petty, mean guy always looking out for himself first.

I think that helps explain why he was such a lousy President.

Is anyone surprised Carter's response to the current crisis was to blame President Bush?

Did anyone call Jimmy a liar?

Didn't think so.

John -

Somewhat ironic of JC to blame Bush. He only has himself to blame. It was under JC that both the Depository Deregulation Act was passed, which made subprimes legal, and the Community Reinvestment Act was passed. It took the genius of Billy Boy Clinton to use the CRA to threaten bankers with all sorts of litigation if they didn't lend to poor (and Obama's ACORN had a big hand in that as well) and voila the subprimes became their vehicle to do that. Do you wonder why the number of subprime originations quintupled from 1995 and 2000. Gee, and that's all the fault of the Republicans and George Bush who was just a governor at the time?

JC has always suffered from a Jesus complex because of his initials, and it comes out in the strangest of ways.

Also, notice how it took three Democrats to screw up the system, and now they blame it on George Bush.

To Anon @ 6:15,

President Bush can't spend one dime of government money that Congress doesn't approve first.

How has the Dem-controlled Congress done cutting back on government spending?

My sense is the Dems raised spending since they took control of Congress in 2006.

Do you have any figures that contradict that?

What did Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, Obama, Rangel, Jefferson, Schumer, Waters, Kennedy, and the rest of the Dem leadership do to avert the situation we’re in now?

Are you satisfied with their leadership? Tell us why?

Do you think the Dem-controlled Congress deserves its 15+/- a few points approval rating Americans give it?

Massive borrowing?

In the 1920s a "problem" Congress faced was how to spend surpluses.
FDR and the Great Depression "solved" that problem.

Ever since we've had growing government spending and borrowing.

Even under Jimmy Carter.

O yes, spending and borrowing grew. And the economy was a wreck.

Under Reagan spending and borrowing grew but so did the economy.

That's a difference.

I'd have no problem living and investing in the America Reagan left us.

The one Carter left us?

Double digit inflation and unemployment with Jimmy himself telling us about a "malaise" in America?

You can have it.

Carter may not have been called a liar today, but I sure hope someone called him on the truth.

Did anyone there ask him about the Community Reinvestment Act?

BTW Anon @ 6:15, you seem OK with Jimmy's slimes.

Are you one of those who live in America and can't get enough America-bashing?

If yes, you know Jimmy's your man.

To Jack in Silver Springs,

Thanks for another great comment.

I plan to use it on the main page tomorrow and Monday.

Jimmah Carter looks like an old fossil to me. He seems like a loose cannon that has lost all sense of purpose, and sometimes nears upon treasonous acts in my opinion.

His Nobel Peace Prize was like a joke, as if sticking a senile nose into suspect foreign elections was really helping anyone.

I think he bashes President Bush hoping it will somehow take him out of the worst president ever category.

JC is trying to make amends, but it is almost pathetic to watch him impose himself on a world that has left him far behind.

In November 1980 the American people overwhelmingly rejected Jimmy Carter's reelection bid. He has hated them and the country ever since. Nothing he does surprises me.

I was at a party last nite and the host (a Democrat) was bashing Dubya, saying he couldn't pronounce "nuclear" properly. I reminded him that Carter, who was a nuclear engineer, pronounces it "nucular" just like Dubya. My friend changed the subject.
