AP pro-Obama-Ayers spin

The AP has no problem with Sen. Barack Obama’s associations with unrepentant terrorist and “guy in the neighborhood” Bill Ayers. After all, while Ayers bombed government buildings and encouraged others to attack government buildings and our military and police personnel, he never, as far as the AP knows, targeted abortion doctors or clinics.

So the AP is doing all it can to help its candidate deal with the latest round of questions concerning the Ayers-Obama relationship.

We see an example of the AP’s “pitching in” for Obama in this paragraph from a story headed “Palin says Obama 'palling around' with terrorists”

While it is known that Obama and Ayers live in the same Chicago neighborhood, served on a charity board together and had a fleeting political connection, there is no evidence that they ever palled around. And it's simply wrong to suggest that they were associated while Ayers was committing terrorist acts.
Nowhere in the AP story does it mention Obama’s failure to denounce and disown Ayers until it became politically expedient and necessary during the primaries.

The AP just provides a lot of minimizing and excusing of its candidate’s relationship with Ayers, along with shots at Palin and McCain.

You can read the AP story here.

What is also interesting is that Bill Ayers has never come forward to explain just exactly what his role was in each of the bombings that were planned and executed by the Weathermen. The fact that there were people who lost their lives due to the activities of Ayers, his wife, and their friends is conveniently pushed aside, almost as a footnote. Had the Republican candidates had such savory associates it would be front and center in the NY Times, the WaPo, NBC, CBS, and CNN.
While it is true that the activities of the SDS and Weathermen occurred while Obama was very young, the point is that one is known by the company that one keeps. Ayers and Dorn were early supporters of Obama - this is more than a neighborhood casual acquaintance. Neither Ayers nor Dorn have ever even so much as expressed sorrow for their past activities that caused such harm to the families of others. Obama makes some very poor choices in his associates (Rev. Wright quickly comes to mind) and sources of influence. This lack of judgement and his inexperience are reasons to think long and hard about whether he is truly qualified to occupy the White House.

Straight Talk on McCain said...

If Palin wants to bring this up, she really needs to be careful. One of the people who McCain pals around with is G. Gordon Liddy, who was involved in the Watergate scandal and admitted in his autobiography to plotting to kill people. Oh, and on his radio show, he instructed people on the best way to kill government agents. http://straighttalkonmccain.blogspot.com/2008/10/domestic-terrorism.html

The Soros/Moveon/Obama trolls have obviously pulled G. Gordon Liddy back out of the closet. They make the same lame connection over and over on many blogs.

I don’t believe for one minute Liddy plotted to kill people. The Obama/Ayers association must be gaining traction. The Obama panic has brought out the paid blogger loons into full view.

The more of this so-called straight talk I see, the more I assume there is a “Burr under the Democrat’s saddle.” Just a little ‘Ratherism-like’ wording to lighten the “Seriousness of the Charge.”
