Sowell on Obama’s “Irrelevant Apologies”

Stanford’s Hoover Institute’s senior fellow Thomas Sowell column today begins - -

It is amazing how seriously the media are taking Senator Barack Obama's latest statement about the latest racist rant from the pulpit of the church he has attended for 20 years.

But neither that statement nor the apology for his rant by Father Michael Pfleger really matters, one way or the other. Nor does Senator Obama's belated resignation from that church.

For any politician, what matters is not his election year rhetoric, or an election year resignation from a church, but the track record of that politician in the years before the election.

Yet so many people are so fascinated by Barack Obama's rhetorical skills that they don't care about his voting record in the U.S. Senate, in the Illinois state senate, the causes that he has chosen to promote over the years, or the candidate's personal character and values, as revealed by his actions and associations.

The rest of Sowell’s column’s here.

Does anyone disagree with Sowell that:

"For any politician, what matters is not his election year rhetoric, or an election year resignation from a church, but the track record of that politician in the years before the election?”
When will Sen. Obama tell us how he could have been a member of Trinity for 20 years and not known what Wright was preaching?

John: He knew. Everyong knows he knew. He just will not ever admit it. What really has me concerned are the points Mr. Sowell brings up deeper into his essay. Truly frightening stuff.

John, do you know if K.C. is still supporting Obama? As clear-thinking and tough-minded as K.C. is, I would hope he'd rethink his support in view of all that has come out.

There are good Marxists, and bad Marxists, it would seem.

The man is a Trojan Horse. We know how that story ended. The latest information regarding his abrupt switch from long practicing Pro-Palestinian activist to recent support of Israel cinched it for me. He scares the crap out of me. But that's just me. Apparently everyone else thinks he's what he 'says' he is. I don't believe it for a minute.

Much as I would like to think that Mr. Sowell is correct I don't think that it is the reality. I believe that the press and too may voters are nothing more than groupies screaming their wild devotion to whatever show is currently on the stage at the moment. The entire Billary career is grounded on lack of voter memory
