Congratulations and good wishes to President Obama

Today, in the words of President Kennedy on his Inauguration Day, we observe "not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom."

Congratulations and all good wishes to President Obama on his Inauguration Day.

May God bless and guide him as he leads America in the years to come.

And congratulations to all his supporters.

John

John: I join you in wishing success for the new president. I hope political discourse in this country turns civil and we don't descend to the level of the pathological Bush-haters who gave encouragement to our enemies by denigrating their own president at a time when unity was so important.
I was sorely disappointed watching the ceremonies yesterday when many in the audience responded with boos and catcalls as President Bush and The First Lady were introduced. It would have been a grand gesture if the incoming president had at least shown disdain for such boorish and uncivil behavior. Though I hope for the best, I don't believe those jerks will ever change and there will continue to be an undertone of nastiness from some quarters. We can disagree without being disagreeable, can't we?

President Obama's reception from Republicans, conservatives, and those who did not vote for him has, at this point, been far more generous and fair than the treatment that Bush got.

Revisionist Bush-haters like to pretend that they gave Bush a chance. However, if you remind them of how they behaved at the time of his 2001 Inauguration, they point out that they were angry over the way the 2000 election was resolved. But, of course, the Bush hating began during the campaign. During the campaign, he was routinely given the Palin treatment by a press and other leading liberal thinkers who could not believe that anyone could consider voting against the pompous, but intellectually mediocre Al Gore.

I will always be concerned about Obama's health and safety because, while he was not my first choice, the weasel boy he chose for his VP was my last choice.
