Teacher bullies McCain-supporting student

(This was first posted on 11/7)

I thank a number of you who've called the following incident to my attention.

It is shocking: A teacher wearing an "Obama" button in class bullies a student to the point of silence and near tears.

Here's the transcript via Michelle Malkin, then the video, and then a few of my comments.

Partial transcript:

[Teacher] Harris: We want to talk about the presidential election. I want to ask you, who are you pulling for? Raise your hand.

Student: Obama.

Harris: You pullin for Obama. Who you pullin for?

Student: Obama.

Harris: Any of you pullin for John McCain? That’s fine, say him as well.

Student: Obama.

Student: Obama.

[Cathy, the daughter of an American soldier answers "McCain."]

Harris:John, oh lord, John McCain.

Oh Jesus, John McCain.

Ok, now I wanna axe you somethin.

Why are you pullin for John McCain? It’s ok, but why are you pullin for John McCain?

Cathy: I thinks it’s because my parents are going for him too.

Harris: Ok, your parents are going for him. Why are you pullin for Ba-RACK. Barack.

Student: I just want a black president sometimes.

Harris: Ok, you want a black president.

Student: The reason why I want Barack Obama is because he’s making good changes in the good country and stuff like that.

Harris: So, he’s making good changes for our country. Now can you tell me just a little bit more, like what type of changes?

Student: Like not having big fights between Iraq and having soldiers killed.

Harris: So in other words, Barack is going to end that war in Iraq. What do you all know about that war in Iraq?

[Harris addresses Kathy] Talk, cause yo daddy in the military. Talk. It’s a senseless war! And by the way, Cathy, the person that you’re picking for president said that our troops could stay in Iraq for another hundred years if they need to!

[Camera pans to Cathy, in near tears.]

Harris: So that means that your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years!

Michelle Malkin has a post here which includes a statement by the superintendent of the school system in which Harris engaged in her abusive classroom partisanship.

Teacher Harris' conduct is disgraceful under any circumstances, but it's made worse, if that's possible, by the fact that it occurred in North Carolina's Cumberland County's School system.

Cumberland County is the home of Fort Bragg, Pope Air Force Base, and Womack Army Medical Center.

I'll comment on this incident again tomorrow.

Your thoughts?

I think the Cumberland County School Board should "axe" for a resignation! Steve in New Mexico

I could be wrong but I don't think she was wearing the Obama button in class. I think it was a shot from a different time and place.

Of course, there is no arguing that the "senseless war" comment was inappropriate, thoughtless, offensive, and any number of other negative adjectives.

This woman has no business in a classroom but there are thousands of others that are just as bad or even worse.

If you expect any action to be taken against this teacher, think again. She's Black and she's a Democrat. Protected species.

Isn't it interesting that the You Tube of this incident was taken off Swedish television? No US mainstream media would ever publicize such as this.

How would the MSM have treated this if it had been a student in tears because her teacher was stumping for McCain?

Teachers like Harris are the norm now. Administrators acting as if they are shocked by this sort of behavior is the new hoax du jour. Teachers’ unions have created the ‘rouge’ attitudes we witness daily. Nothing will happen to them, well maybe extra supervision by another quack for a week or so.

The Gang of 88 types in education have the upper hand as long as Obama is in office. I am thinking Obama’s daughters will go to private school. The reasoning will be that it is more secure, but the poor DC kids dare not receive vouchers toward an equal chance at a decent education. That idea is so GOP-like.

Concerning Obama’s ‘Change we can believe in’ slogan, where were the real teachers? Surely they still say, “Never use a preposition to end a sentence with,” to see if you are paying attention.

Headline: President-Elect
D’oh-bama’s Gaffe #1:
Sorry, Nancy
By Michelle Malkin
-----------
I think the President-Elect got caught with loose lips already. This immediate apology must be some sort of record. Note he spoke disparagingly of the wrong first lady. The great ‘Unifier’ seeking to bring everyone together, or the first by move of a false prophet.

Joe the Plumber update:

“Gov. Ted Strickland has placed the director of the Department of Job and Family Services on paid leave for possibly using a state computer and e-mail account for political fund raising.

The governor took the action against Helen Jones-Kelley, director of the state agency, late this afternoon”

The fraud-plot thickens. More here than first acknowledged, of course after the election. We have been told to accept this fraudulent purchase of the highest office in the land with grace. How can anyone accept fraud and thuggery with grace?
