With the work being done by Liestoppers members on other arms, it should be a nice tidy package when it's all wrapped.
The overriding question is who wanted this case enough to guarantee Nifong the election (while underestimating the defense team).
That's the strongest arm.

Most people now assume that the “arm” that propelled the frame-up of three innocent young men was Mike Nifong’s desire to win election to a full-term as DA.
You seem to maybe be suggesting there was another, second “arm” that wanted Nifong elected.
I’m assuming that you see as part of the first "arm" organizations like the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, the People’s Alliance, the Democratic Party as well as many at Duke, the potbangers and other such people, “rights activists,” etc.
Do you think a possible second “arm” was at work? And if yes, would you say more about it?
Others are welcome to weigh in.

Twaddlefree and I may not fully agree on every detail, but we do agree that it appears Nifong is not the only party involved.
The soonest we know of Nifong's involvement was sometime around 3/22 to 3/24. He was given command of the investigation on 3/24, so we have to assume he was consulted sometime prior to that action. The Non-Testimonial order was sought on 3/22 and Mikey has told us that all case actions cross his desk for approval. Even if that was a spin, or my recalling it is inaccurate, I anticipate such an order would not slip by without his approval.
Now, go back to the first 48 hours of the case. All indications were it would go nowhere. Sixty (60) hours after the accusations surfaced, a search warrant was obtained for 610, a change in position on the case by the LE involved.
Sometime between just prior to when that 610 search warrant was sought and the Non-Testimonial order was obtained, the HOAX began.
Unless Mikey was involved within the initial 60 hours after the accusation was made at Durham Access, somebody else started the HOAX.
The chronological order of events, as we know them, will not allow Mikey to shoulder ALL the blame, IMO.
Who started that HOAX?
I think Nifong saw the same pandering and race baiting that we have come to expect and thought he could harness it for his own ends.
I think the race baiters and "activists" that owe their power and position, in that particular hierarchy, to the controversies they have hijacked for personal aggrandizement, were on the lookout for another platform from which to spread their poison on the body politic. They thought they could harness Nifong for their own ends.
They have proven to be mutually supportive parasitic organisms in the body of the community. They have released their toxins into the body of that community and poisoned it, perhaps beyond healing.
The race baiters (group of 88, and others, I am sure) and Nifong were faint poisoners, and mostly ineffectually harmful, until the synergism of their unholy alliance produce a whole dose of toxin greater than the sum of its parts.
Enough of the police department were simply hired thugs who would do whatever ordered or requested to do, to curry favor and perhaps further their careers by holding "markers" from the players.
With the defacto immunity we supply miscreant law enforcement officers the thugs among the PD probably saw little risk in violating the law and their oaths.
I sincerely hope all three groups find out just how tired and intolerant good people are of thuggery, no matter the station of the thug.

If accurate, then the "the race baiters and "activists"" put their agenda into motion just prior to when the 610 SW was obtained, constructing a case by selectively using various portions of the multiple tales they had from CGM and adding lies about the medical report.
The names of "the race baiters and "activists"" would yell us who started the HOAX.
