The following is from the disgraced Mike Nifong’s deposition prior to his recent State Bar trial that led to his disbarment:
Q. When you decided to go ahead and -- I guess, is it fair to say from your answer, that when you talked with Mr. Saacks, you decided to go ahead and handle that case yourself directly and you would be the primary prosecutor on the case? Then we have this from the 3/29/06 NY Times:
A. I don't know that I had made that decision specifically then; but, I mean, I was certainly aware that we were in the middle of an election. I expected that this was a case that the media was going to have some interest in, and for that reason, I figured that I was likely going to be asked about the case.(emphasis mine)
”The thing that most of us found so abhorrent, and the reason I decided to take it over myself, was the combination gang-like rape activity accompanied by the racial slurs and general racial hostility," Mr. Nifong said Tuesday in a telephone interview. (emphasis mine)Pick your Nifong! Place your bets!

The irony is just too sweet! One of the few times that Duff Wilson writes with accuracy, he ends up screwing his soul-mate, Nifong!! As they say over at Liestoppers: You can't make this s**t up!"
3/29/07 NY Times. I think you mean 3/29/06.
Anon @ 2:08,
Duff didn't write this story but don't worry about an understandable mistake.
See the next comment after yours by Anon @ 3:57 and my comment in response.
Anon @ 3:57,
Yipes!! I did mean 3/29/06.
I've fixed my error.
Thanks for catching it and pointing it out.
Thank you both for commenting.
