To the three families

Friends of Duke University has posted a brief holiday message to the three falsely indicted young men – David Evans, Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann – and their families.

FODU’s message says just what many of us want to say to the families. So I’ve copied it below and encourage you to comment with a few words; and then "sign it" with your name or, if you're Anon., with your street's name, hometown or other identifier.

All together, our signings will make something good and deserved for the three families. I don’t have or seek direct connections to the families, but many who stop by JinC do communicate with the families. So we can be sure our messages will get "delivered."

To the Evans, Finnerty and Seligmann families:

Today, we share your joy and look forward for the dismissal of the remaining two charges soon.

We are absolutely confident those charges are also false and cannot wait to see them dismissed at the soonest.

You have handled these hard times graciously and won our hearts and admiration.

We wish you a very happy holiday season.

I live in Durham and have for my entire life (52 years). I am sorry for our sorry excuse of a DA. I hope you wil soon have the charges dropped completely and you can get on with your life. Hope you have a good holiday in spite of these false charges. If I get on the jury you have nothing to worry about.

I am a Canadian Mom of 3 University students, one in S. Carolina. I was outraged by this case from the first time I read about it early in May. My heart goes out to all the families involved. If this could happen to your sons this could happen to any one of us. My family is 100 percent behind you and wish that there was something we could do to help.

Merry Christmas and the best of New Years to you and your families. I live in Jacksonville, Florida and have followed your case closely for months now. I'm so glad the truth is coming out. I can't imagine how terrible it must have been for you these past months; knowing you were innocent and being railroaded. Everyone I talk to about this case is shocked and disappointed in the legal system. It appears the you are the only people telling the truth and the fact that the State of North Carloina, their elected officials and judiciary are willing to sit by and watch this farce wihtout stepping in is one of the greatest injustices of our time. We are seeing the beginning of the end and you all have conducted yourselves with dignity and honor, which is far more than I can say for the police officers, district attorney, "community activists" and judges in this case. Perhaps they can try to regain their humanity and integrity by following your example and telling the truth! God bless you all!

Happy Holidays to you and your families. I know you've been through quite an ordeal this past year, but it should be over soon. America knows that you are innocent, and that you have been the victims of a criminally corrupt prosecutor. Stay strong. Many of us are monitoring this case, and we will not stop until justice is done.

A Christmas Song for Mike Nifong
With Apologies to Tradition

DA's burning in a hellish fire
Flames are licking at his toes,
Mournful chants sung by a choir,
Of tortured souls sent down below.

Everybody knows a false charge from a lyin' ho',
Will surely send you straight to hell,
Wicked fiends with their eyes all aglow,
Will make it hard to sleep too well.

They know that Nifong's gotta pay,
He's loaded lots of guilt and bad deeds on his way,
And every laxer Mom is gonna spy,
To see if Michael really knows how to cry.

And so I'm offering this simple gaze,
From now to time beyond our view,
Although it's been said many times many ways,
Immolation for you.

From someone who also wrongly accused a charged with a crime I did not not commit, I want to say how sorry I am for you. This will change you and you you are most likly filled with Anger and feel completly Violated. What happened to you is a Crime. I was able to prove I was innocent. The charges were dropped and The person who did this to me was charged with making false statements to a police. Even though my accuser was arrested and I was proven innocent I still fell violated. Most likely because Of the way the case was POORLY investigated and Rushed to court without facts. I beg you when this is over and all the charges are dropped that you sue and File Charges against Nifong. Do it for those who do not the exposer or oppertunity you do go after the ones who put you in this situation. If you are not famous and this happens to you it is almost impossible to find an attorney to file charges against the police or DA.
