"A Song for Durham"

Jon Ham at Right Angles has given us “A Song for Durham.”

Jon explains:

Watching the Duke lacrosse story play out reminded me of a song from the musical Hair, “Easy to Be Hard.” I took the liberty of rewriting it for Durham.
Here’s part of Jon’s “A Song for Durham:”
Especially claiming
You care about strangers
You care about evil
And social injustice
But do you only
Care about minorities?
What about lacrosse team guys?
Or don’t they count?
The Nifong Enablers’ Quartet ( Duke’s President Brodhead, Durham’s Mayor Bell, Community Activist Victoria Peterson, and Herald Sun Editor Ashley) won’t be singing "A Song for Durham" at any of their holiday concerts, but you can copy the lyrics here and sing it with friends.

Thanks, Jon

Ashley has correctly taken lots of heat for the Durham newspaper's lousy performance as a Nifong enabler. But let us not forget the inflammatory and fundamentally misleading journalism produced by Melanie Sill's N&O in late March. And still no apologies or corrections or explanations. Of course, Joe Neff's excellent journalism is at least a mitigating factor for the McClatchy newspaper. The Paxton Media-owned Durham newspaper has no saving grace.
