Well John, you are absolutely correct - you have to see (and hear) it to believe it. 9/11 went right down the memory hole for these people. You have to wonder, just exactly WHAT WILL IT TAKE for them to FINALLY realize that there are many dedicated, fanatical people out there who want to kill us, our children, our country and our way of life. Absolutely astonishing proposal -- and this guy was SERIOUS. Steve in New Mexico
John, in some ways, it's already too late to treat the terrorists like our own military when brought up on charges - John Murtha hasn't already declared them to be murderers!
This jerk doesn't have a clue what the Court Martial system is if he says it gives the U.S. a "home-court advantage." Any legal scholar who has studied the military system and compared it against the civil system would conclude that the military system grants much more latitude to the defendant. But all these geniuses who want to try terrorists under the U.S. court martial system or under the provisions of the Geneva conventions show their abyssmal ignorance of both. The court martial system applies only to active duty or reserve on active duty members. The Geneva conventions specifically exclude bandits, terrorists, irregulars, brigands, partisans, or other vermin not affiliated with a recognized nation and wearing an identifiable uniform with appropriate markings. No signatory of the conventions is obligated to conform to the conventions when dealing with such thugs. Tarheel Hawkeye
