At least as long as I was able to watch, they seemed happy. They definitely were patting themselves and each other on the back for the great job that had been done.

By comparison, the Republicans I saw an hour or so later did not seem the least bit happy.

Maybe it was just me.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-81145063840840412182008-09-28T16:56:00.000-04:002008-09-28T16:56:00.000-04:00If the Republican National Committee has even a fa...If the Republican National Committee has even a faint wisp of smarts, they will take this issue and run with it right up to November. There is no doubt the Democrats brought this debacle on by forcing the mortgage lenders to grant mortgages to people who could never be expected to honor the commitment to pay their due. Both Frank and Dodd have heaped praise on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and accused the Republicans of causing the problem by deregulating the loan industry. The deregulation was not a cause of the melt-down--the sub-prime lending practices were the cause. I grant the GOP never had the cojones to challenge the Democrats on this matter, so they must share part of the blame. I have no doubt the main reason the GOP raised no arguments is because the MSM would have crucified the Republicans and labeled them "racist," and we all know how thin-skinned the GOP can be. It would be so nice if we had people in congress who had the courage and the principles of our founders. I can't think of a single one up there who could hold a candle to the likes of John Adams. I am sick to my stomach seeing these little people scheme and connive to get more power.
Tarheel HawkeyeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
