Goldwater in '64 and recently of the Duke lacrosse team were at least as low as their treatment of Palin.

To Dartmouth 05,

Most MSM news orgs were very eager to find and disclose the source(s) of journalist Bob Novak's "outing" of Valerie Plame.

In fact, the NYT not only wanted the source(s) ID'ed, but punished with jail time, didn't it?

But on the question of who broke into Palin’s email account and published what was found there, things are different.

Thank you all for commenting.

JohnJWMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08275423713054782480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-7375434765138718372008-09-19T13:09:00.000-04:002008-09-19T13:09:00.000-04:00Oh for crying out loud, John. They take an expansive view of the First Amendment press protections because, well, they're the press!

Now whether this reading of the Constitution is too broad or not, that is a different discussion, but this is not the AP protecting Obama. This is the AP protecting their source and their own power.

It's no more partisan than the refusal of journalists to name Scooter Libby and David Addington in the Plame investigation.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-4056821842431422962008-09-18T16:30:00.000-04:002008-09-18T16:30:00.000-04:00Ken: The trashing of Sarah Palin by the liberal pr...Ken: The trashing of Sarah Palin by the liberal press knows absolutely no shame. Fox News is reporting that Canadian columnist Heather Mallick has called Palin supporters "white trash", has compared Palin herself to a "porn actress" and has called Bristol's boyfriend "a f--king redneck" and "ratboy". Also claimed the Alaska is full of nothing but "drunks and crazy people". Additionally, a Denver professor, Andrew Hallam assigned his class to write an essay to "undermine" the Republican portrail of Mrs. Palin. I have never seen such a hysterical attack -- EVER. This stuff is a new low, even for the press. No candidate deserves this kind of personal attack. Somehow, I have a feeling that the longer it continues, and the more viscious it gets, it is most likely to backfire. Hawkeye, loved your firing squad description! Look at how utterly cowardly the Bush Attorney General responded to the Lacrosse frame-up and the resulting violation of constitutional rights. Even Liddy Dole, North Carolina's RINO U.S. Senator, said nothing--hell, she didn't even know two months after the fact that the NC AG had declared the players innocent The GOP's idea of a firing squad apparently is a circle.
Tarheel HawkeyeAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-83694150193478823112008-09-18T11:52:00.000-04:002008-09-18T11:52:00.000-04:00John:Just this once, this one time only, I wish Ge...John:

Just this once, this one time only, I wish George Bush would find the courage to fight for his people. A fine young woman is being crucified because of her political beliefs. He's not afraid to fight for the Iraqi people. What about the conservative citizens of this country?

Bring every ounce of federal power to identify and prosecute these low lifes. If he doesn't, may he rot in hell.

Ken
DallasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
