The increase in c-sections is directly attributable to Edwards' lawsuits that held OB/GYN physicians responsible for birth defects; doctors seek to avoid lawsuits by unnecessarily subjecting pregnant women to c-sections, thus actually increasing the chances of death for both mother and child. What a blight on humanity is John Edwards!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-14405621465887108652007-09-05T18:27:00.000-04:002007-09-05T18:27:00.000-04:00There is an 88 member (IMHO) responding to some co...There is an 88 member (IMHO) responding to some comments on the article about "Post-lax, citations plummet" He calls himself "Duke Instructor" and appears to be floating excuses about how well meaning and misunderstood the 88 were/are. This is a really creative piece of revisionist history. The man has no shame!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-15721738650533347912007-09-05T18:24:00.000-04:002007-09-05T18:24:00.000-04:00I noticed how vocal Edwards was on the Duke rape h...I noticed how vocal Edwards was on the Duke rape hoax ...the guy is pathetic!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13073631.post-19105394976485466362007-09-05T16:12:00.000-04:002007-09-05T16:12:00.000-04:00This is why all of us must work extra hard to make...This is why all of us must work extra hard to make sure Edwards is defeated. He would truly be a danger to our country. Besides being a sanctimonious hypocrite, the man has no clue about anything except trying to promote his "image" as a defender of the poor, and a protector of the environment. In the meantime he invests his millions in a hedge fund selling subprime mortgages to people that can't afford them(while giving speeches on how evil the companies that do that are), and spends so much money heating and cooling his 28,000 square foot house he refuses to make his energy bill public, despite calls to do so. He called for other democratic candidates to boycott FOX, yet he accepted a $300,000 donation from their parent company which was funneled to one of his own charities. He tells people to stop driving SUV's but he drives one himself (yes it's a hybrid but the truth is, a hybrid SUV still produces way more CO2 than a small car like a Honda Civic).

The man has no shame. He is a charlatan and a fraud. Somebody who really believed in the concept of "two Americas" wouldn't be out getting a $400 haircut, regardless of how much money they had. Hopefully after Iowa he will go back to chasing ambulances and trying slip and fall lawsuits. The damage he does can then be limited to enriching himself at the expense of corporations, insurance carriers, and the victims he is supposed to be helping. The fact that anyone can amass such a large fortune by profiting from the misery of others is a basic wrong of the whole tort system. There are many true victims of malpractice or corporate malfeasance that should be compensated, but monies paid out should go just for that, compensation, not to build some ass**le a 28,000 square foot house. And the jury system insures that many of these cases are decided based on how much sympathy a lawyer can get for his client from the jury. In Edward's case, I understand the "Breck Girl" act worked fairly well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
